FAQ

In the interests of getting the most from your air conditioning systems, and educating our customers, Himalaya Air Pty. Ltd. is proud to present this collection of recent questions we’ve been asked and our subsequent answers.

This is normal. It is simply the cool air meeting hot humid air and forming water vapor.

Relax. This is simply normal condensation. If services fitted the unit, no doubt they would have channeled this water to a drain or garden bed.

The usual reason is that due to lack of regular maintenance, mold and mildew has accumulated inside. However, it could also be a deceased Gecko or similar. Call us and we will investigate.

Not really, not unless you have a multi-split system sharing one external unit. Perhaps it would partially work if there were a connecting door, but even this is not ideal as hot air will be trapped above the doorway and the airflow will be restricted.

Definitely not. In most cases the units are between 5 and 8 years old and may now be obsolete. The filters will be worn and/or dirty and parts will be difficult (i.e. expensive) to find. For total peace of mind, it is much better to buy new air conditioners and take advantage of manufacturers’ warranties of up to 5 years.

Only on hot dry days and nights. However when the weather is particularly humid, you should set the fan speed on low for increased comfort. This will help to remove more moisture from the air and actually make your home cooler.

Unfortunately no. Furthermore, if you forget to reset it in time, it may lead to added expense.

Try the “organic” approach. Do things like add curtains, blinds, etc. to windows facing east and west, and if possible, delay heat-generating activities, such as cooking & baking, until the evening on hot days.

Yes. Dust and dirt build-up on the indoor coil is the single most common cause of poor efficiency in air conditioning systems.

The indoor coil in your air conditioner acts as a magnet for dust because it is constantly wet during the cooling season.
